It is quite understandable that there are many things that
you need to know to succeed at affiliate marketing. But, there are three things
that stand out that every beginner must know. And once you have mastered these
three simple points, you will on the road to riches – Okay not riches but some good
profits – perhaps it could be riches...
1. Abbreviations And Terminology
Beginners need to quickly become familiar with basic
terminology and acronyms. These are the key metrics that all affiliate
Marketers use for tracking the performance of their Ads, beginners and super
affiliates alike.
Impressions – This is the number of times that the Ad has
been displayed
Clicks – The number of times that the Ad has been clicked
CTR – The click through rate – Clicks / Impressions
Sales – How many clicks that resulted in a sale.
Leads – How many clicks resulted in visits with downloads or
registrations but no sales.
EPC – Earnings per Click
2. Picking The Right Ad
The Ad you choose will have greater success if it is related
to the topic of the page that it is on. Quality is important too. If you are
using a major affiliate network as a source of links, quality will not be an
issue.
It is extremely important to understand how to determine the
type of ad and where the ad should be placed on the page or within articles. Of
course, you are always free to experiment, but greatest success has generally
been in specific areas on a web page. In
a nutshell, the best place to put an ad is the top left below your navigation
menu above the fold. “Above the fold” just means that your visitor does not
need to scroll the page before they see the ad.
