Your success as an affiliate marketer will depend highly on the niche that you choose. A niche is a topic that you concentrate on. It can be just about anything. The best topic, of course, is a topic that you are most familiar with. Only you know what that topic may be, but if you are like most people, you may find it difficult to decide which is the best topic to generate sales. At this point your focus must be on your knowledge and what you can bring to the table. Sales will follow.

If you are just starting out, you need to do two things:

1. Pick a Niche and
2. Make a business Plan. 

These are done in no particular order but generally you would have an idea of what you want to have a website about before you built a business around it. Of course deciding on making a website, any website, is the beginning of a business plan.

The best choice for a niche is something that you are passionate about, such as a hobby, a cause, or something in your profession. I know that may not narrow it down much, but everyone is different, and only you will know the answer.

First: What is Internet Marketing?

Internet Marketing is Marketing that focuses on selling goods and services on the internet. This includes websites from large corporations down to individuals. 

Marketing is a complex activity that I can only summarize here:

1) Determine a target Audience or market

2) Branding

3) Determine customer need, build customer relationships, satisfy the customer and keep the customer

Specifically, what is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate Marketing is the segment of Internet Marketing where the business focuses on selling someone else's product. Keep in mind that the affiliate marketer is the advertiser, not the seller!  The affiliate marketer (Affiliate) advertises the product or products of the vendor (Seller).  For example Amazon.com has an affiliate program: the seller is Amazon in that the buyer actually goes to Amazon's website to buy the product, and the advertiser (Affiliate) will receive a commission on the sale for referring that customer.

No I'm not saying that you can't get rich.

Nor am I saying it can't be quick.

There are a few products out there that make claim that if you use their system you can earn big bucks. In part it is true, what they don't tell you is that most of the information in the Videos and CDs is already available on the internet FREE, you just have to look for it.

If you are new to IM (Internet-Marketing) you should know there are free ways to make money and other ways you just have to pay for. Unfortunately you may need to pay to get good returns. one thing is for certain, you do not need to pay for someone's system.
